Zulu Time is a dynamic acoustic trio of violin, accordion, and bass. Violinist Gabriel Solomon, bassist Richey Tally, and accordionist Cory Pesaturo are classically trained, improvisationally oriented, and fun addicted. Since their formation at a chance meeting outside a Cambridge Coffee House in 2001, they have cemented a magnetic onstage chemistry that is slightly irreverent and deadly serious.
The band has an omnivorous musical appetite, with repertoire spanning genres from jazz, musette, tango, klezmer, folk music of Bulgaria and Macedonia, classical, and original compositions. They perform sparkling arrangements of compositions by Gus Viseur, Astor Piazzolla, Hermeto Pascoal, Robert Schumann, Bela Bartok, Chick Corea, Wayne Shorter, and Michael Brecker.
Zulu Time has performed with acclaimed drummer Bob Guillotti at the Blackstone River Theatre in Cumberland, RI, at the Longy School of Music, and at The Lily Pad in Cambridge, MA. Its members have performed in Canada, the United States, the U.K., Finland, France, Spain, Italy, Tunisia, South Africa, India, New Zealand, and Japan.
Zulu Time released its self-titled recording in 2011. Listen to clips and videos at http://www.zulutimemusic.net
