Join MFA curator Darcy Kuronen and local performer Mike Turk for a look at the invention and development of the mouth organ (todayäó»s harmonica) in the early 1800s. On hand for demonstration and examination will be fascinating examples of these types of instruments by Charles Wheatstone, made in London about 1830, and James Bazin, made in Canton, Massachusetts, about 1835. Mike Turk will fill in the second half of the program with demonstrations of contemporary harmonicas and their music.
