Conservatory, and LyricaFest. Her jazz quartet CD, When
Manatees Attack, featuring music by percussionist Brad
Dutz, was heralded in the- Jazz Times “The musicians play with precision but let the music breathe naturally…the solos are creative.”
Ms. Arnold is also a member of the Los Angeles-based Partch, in which she plays the microtonal music of Harry Partch on an adapted viola and a kithara (a 72-stringed harp-like instrument).
Ms Arnold is also a dedicated teacher and has taught through the innovative Harmony Project in Los Angeles, the Seoul School of Music, and the Community Arts Partnership at the California Institute of the Arts. In the spring of 2007, Rachel taught a mini-residency on “The Art of Improvisation” at the Conservatory Lab Charter School in Brighton, MA.
Arnold earned a Master of Music degree from the Longy School of Music and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from California Institute of the Arts. Her principal teachers are Erika Duke-Kirkpatrick and Terry King. Ms. Arnold can also be heard on the pfMentum, Cold Blue and Innova record labels.
